PUBLIC ACTIVITIES
Arup Kumar Dutta has been associated with numerous organizations and institutions at the national and regional level. At one time or the other he had been a member, advisory committee of the National Book Trust, selection jury panel of Children’s International Film Festival, award selection jury panel of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, advisory committee, Publication Board, Assam, Dibrugarh University Board, Vice President, Children’s Book Trust of Assam etc.
At present he is the President of the North-East Writers’ Forum, a body comprising of writers and translators from Arunachal, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
He was a member of the Assam Accord Implementation Committee set up by the Government of Assam. He has also been a Visitor to the Prisons of Assam for two terms, as also an Adviser to the Publicity Department, Government of Assam, Tourism Department etc.
In 2004 the Government of India appointed him as Director, the Jawaharlal Nehru Indian Cultural Centre, Jakarta, and Indian Cultural Centre, Bali with the rank of a Counselor, the Embassy of India, Jakarta, Indonesia, a post he held for four years.
